Our Board

Our Board members are required to attend a minimum of eight meetings per year. They provide significant contributions to monthly Board meetings where they offer expertise in decision making and ensure that decisions align with the strategic plan of the organisation, governance practices, financial position and legal obligations. Terms of membership are staggered and each term runs for two years.

Wayne Stone
Chairperson

Wayne was appointed to the Board in October 2018.

Wayne is an experienced executive manager, having held leadership roles in both the public and private sectors (both for Profit and NFP organisations).


Wayne has a strong governance background with more than 25 years’ experience in healthcare fraud risk management.

Wayne is currently a member of HBF’s senior management team and General Manager of the HBF Integrity team.

Cate Thomas
Deputy Chairperson

Cate was appointed to the Board in January 2017. 

Cate brings a strong background of governance and risk management to the board. 

Cate currently works as a Senior Manager in the Health Advisory practice at Ernst & Young, delivering health care projects and clinical redesign for both the public and private sectors.


Cate has a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy and a Master of Business Administration.

Kunal Malhotra
Secretary

Kunal was appointed to the Board in October 2018.

Kunal brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the board on corporate and governance matters.

Kunal is a Senior Lawyer in Western Australia and has acted as a legal advisor to several organisations – ranging from emerging companies to numerous ASX-listed entities.


Kunal holds a Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Commerce (Corporate Finance) from the University of Western Australia.

Wayne Belcher OAM
Treasurer

Wayne transitioned out of full time employment in November 2019, with more than forty years’ experience working in the health and aged care sector of industry.  He also has more than five years as a pastor of a local Baptist church in Perth’s northern suburbs.  He see these as being wonderful opportunities to serve people. He views his appointment to the Indigo Board as extending those service opportunities. 

Wayne’s seventeen years as CEO of the Bethanie Group taught him much about people; work, and how we work together; organisational theory and governance, and change management.  It was whilst at Bethanie that he was awarded a Medallion of the Order of Australia in 2007, in recognition of a significant contribution to community services.

He hold a Master in Business Law, a Master of Ministry, a Graduate Certificate of Divinity, a Graduate Diploma in Health Sciences (Health Administration and Gerontology), and a Diploma in Hospital Administration.  He is a Southern Cross University, Vose Seminary, and Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania) Alumni.

Ralph Gore
Board Member

Ralph was appointed to the Board in October 1999. 

He was elected to the role of Chairperson in February 2007 and provided outstanding leadership for the Board in its governance role over five and a half years, retiring as Chairperson at the end of 2012. 

Ralph spent almost 30 years in the finance industry gaining valuable experience in strategy development, financial control, corporate governance and executive management, before becoming involved in the not-for-profit sector.

Ian Sloan
Board Member

Ian was appointed to the Board in April 2017.

With over 25 years' experience in business and technology Ian is a Principal Consultant with Tango IT, providing independent IT advice to NGOs, not for profits and the private sector.

Ian is also involved in Augmented Reality with some innovative uses of the technology including Arility safety education and MarkR virtual information. 

Ian has a passion for bringing innovation into the community sector.

Irene Mooney
Board Member

Irene was appointed to the Board in September 2013.

Irene has extensive career experience in the health, aged care and community sectors in both government and NGO positions and continues to be a strong advocate and supporter of improvement to customer quality and service, promoting culturally appropriate services and workforce development. Currently Irene is the Chief Executive Officer of Stirling Ethnic Aged Homes Inc. trading as MYVISTA.

Irene holds a Bachelor of Nursing (Clinical) and a Master's in Business Leadership and Management and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Wes Smith
Board Member

Wes was appointed to the Board in October 2018.

Wes brings to the board over 20 years’ experience within the areas of commercial finance and strategic management.


Wes works as the Group CFO of Capricorn and has held senior executive positions in Australia and Overseas for listed and private companies within the financial services, agricultural, utility and engineering sectors.

Wes holds a Bachelor of Commerce double major, is a Fellow of CPA Australia and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Claire Cooke
Board Member

Dr Claire Cooke was appointed to the Indigo Board in October 2020.

Claire brings more than 12 years' experience working in the disability sector, ranging from the tertiary level to large not-for-profit organisations. She is currently a Project Manager at Activ Foundation.

Claire has a strong background in the management and governance of complex projects. Her passions include ensuring that governance is practical in application and optimises customer experience. She holds a PhD from the University of Western Australia.

Evan Salt
Board Member

Evan is a born and bred Western Australian, with an unusually diverse range of business industry experience having worked in financial services, HR, marketing and consulting roles.

Evan holds formal qualifications in management, HR, financial services and education.

He has worked for, and consulted with, a number of large Australian and overseas based businesses, but has also been a partner in, or run his own small business. He has a combined 37 years of board experience across private companies, NFP’s and sporting associations.

Having a son with a disability has built Evan’s passion for helping people with a disability to the extent that he now runs a quickly growing business as a registered NDIS provider. 


Our Executive Team

Indigo's Executive Team works together to make operational decisions. The two General Managers report to Indigo’s Chief Executive Officer. The Executive Team implements actions under the organisation's strategic plan and they are responsible for the organisation’s daily operations and overall performance.

Chief Executive Officer
Steve Glew

Steve joined Indigo as the Chief Executive Officer in March 2018. Steve brings a wealth of experience to the role having worked in senior executive positions for more than 15 years. 

Prior to his appointment at Indigo, Steve was an Executive Director at the Department for Child Protection and Family Support, where he was instrumental in growing and developing community services to meet changing priorities across social policy areas. Before this, Steve was the Manager of Strategic Planning and Policy for the Inclusive Education Directorate at the Department of Education and Training, where he gained considerable experience managing teams working within the disability sector. 

He has a strong track record in organisational achievement, reform initiatives, change management, policy development, innovation, corporate communications, governance, strategy and customer service. 

Steve’s significant experience and strong leadership skills have him well placed to lead Indigo into the future as the disability, aged and community care sectors undergo significant change.

General Manager - Service Delivery
Christa Riegler

Christa Riegler joined Indigo in May 2017. She has extensive senior management experience in the not for profit health, human services and aged care sectors. She has developed new services and new models of service delivery as well as lead a number of significant internal change processes associated with health reform, aged care reform and disability services reform. 

Christa is passionate about providing high quality consumer focused services which ensure that people can live independently in the community. She is keen to keep up to date with contemporary leadership and change management strategies and applies these learnings at Indigo. As part of the executive team she assists the organisation to navigate through the realignment of services under the Indigo brand. 

She completed her Master in Business Administration (MBA) at the University of Western Australia in 2017 and also holds a Bachelor of Arts (Youth Work).

General Manager - Corporate Services
Justin Bunter

 

Justin joined Indigo in July 2018, and is a Chartered Accountant and has held senior operational and financial positions for more than 25 years.

Justin has worked across a number of industry sectors in both Australia and the UK. For the last 15 years Justin has worked within the not for profit sector with executive roles in the environment, aged care, community development and disability sectors.

These roles have focused on overseeing most corporate functions including finance, IT, HR, assets and risk management. Within this dynamic sector Justin has supported a number of mergers, acquisitions and organisational restructures designed to enable organisations to modernise and build alternative revenue streams.

Justin has a Bachelor of Commerce and a Post Graduate Diploma of Business and has held a number of Board positions. He is currently the Vice Chair for a Perth based disability organisation.
