From January 2020 the ILC will change its structure and it will be known as Indigo.

Why Indigo?

Indigo is a name that conveys a sense of freedom, which, in essence, is what we provide to customers through our wide range of assistive technology and allied health services.

The word Indigo also has many characteristics which align closely with how our people work with customers, including wisdom, empathy, purpose and creativity.

As Indigo is not a descriptive name, our tagline is – to provide tailored solutions for greater independence.

Mr Glew said the new name was selected following collaboration with many customers and staff members to ensure it is contemporary and relevant.

“We are proud of our 41-year history as ILC and the solid reputation we have built. However, during this time, we have evolved – we are no longer just a ‘Centre’ and our services are broader than ‘WA’.

“Our new approach combines our proud past with our aspirations for the future,” said Mr Glew.

“In addition, Indigo is a more modern name and better reflects the fact that we provide services online, within the community and nationally.

“Under Indigo, we will strengthen our focus on placing the customer at the centre of everything we do.

“And, as always, our creativity and passion for assistive technology and allied health solutions will continue.”

Why Independent Living Assessment?

Independent Living Assessment is a simple descriptive name which reflects the valuable role this organisation will play within the community.

Mr Glew said the new structure stems from a commitment to work with the community for many years to come.

“It is our aim that under our new structure, our founder Freda Jacob’s tenacity, dedication and commitment to improving people’s well-being and independence lives on.”
