Independent Living Centre WA (ILC WA) is now providing home modifications through the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) in select regions of Western Australia to increase or maintain a person’s independence, safety, accessibility and wellbeing. Eligible people living in the Pilbara, Kimberley, Midwest, Goldfields and Great Southern regions can obtain assistance with the organisation and cost of simple or complex modifications. All modifications require supporting clinical justification from an Occupational Therapist. The individual is also expected to contribute to the cost of the modification.
Home modifications can include:
- Rail installation
- Ramps and doorway wedges
- Slip resistant flooring
- Re-positioning of clotheslines and letterboxes
- Installation of lever tap sets and door handles
-
More complex activities (bathroom or kitchen redesign, and widening doorways).
Individuals who believe they would benefit from a home modification can be referred to our service by contacting My Aged Care on 1800 200 422. Please note, if you are already linked in with an Occupational Therapist (OT), and home modifications have been identified as necessary, the OT may assist you to access our service.
