Indigo can assist individuals to access simple items of equipment and assistive technology to enable them to remain as independent and safe as possible in their homes.

This may include providing guidance about the range of items that are available, purchasing or hiring assistance, as well as a subsidy towards the cost of the required item.

The GEAT service is funded through the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) and can be accessed by contacting My Aged Care on 1800 200 422. The My Aged Care Contact Centre will then refer eligible persons to a Regional Assessment Service (RAS) or Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) for a formal assessment to determine what types of care and supports (including GEAT) can help in the home.

GEAT has assisted individuals with many different types of items such as shower chairs, height adjustable utility chairs, 4 wheeled walkers, calendar clocks, pressure stocking aids, and toilet frames.

In line with the CHSP guidelines, Indigo GEAT requests the client pay a 25% contribution towards the cost of the item. This can be negotiated if the individual is experiencing financial difficulty.

Allied Health professionals can assist their clients to obtain equipment through Indigo GEAT Ph: 9381 0600.
