Key Word Sign Basic Workshop

What is Key Word Sign?

Key Word Sign is a strategy to support understanding and communication.
It is a simplified form of manual signing designed for and used by and with people who have communication difficulties.
Key Word Sign borrows signs from Auslan, the language of the Australian Deaf community.

Content / Learning Objectives:

The principles of Key Word Sign
How sign supports communication
Who signing is used with
Learn finger spelling and Interactive Sign Vocabulary 1 and 2
Use sign and gesture in everyday activities
How to support others to learn Key Word Sign

This workshop would suit:

Anyone who supports, works with, lives with, interacts with someone who experience communication difficulties.

Features of the workshop:

Full day workshop (9am-4pm) *Catering included
Interactive with plenty of opportunity for practice
Support to problem solve barriers to sign production
Low pressure learning environment
Scope’s Getting Started with Key Word Sign (Auslan Edition) booklet included in registration. The booklet features more than 100 words – each with a clear line drawing and a written description.

NDIS

Key Word Sign training and workshops can be funded in an NDIS plan under the following line items:

Improved Daily Living Skills

*Social distancing protocols in line with current government recommendations will be adhered to. If restrictions change outside the control of the participant and the session is cancelled due to COVID, participant will be able to opt for a future session.
