Indigo is a Finalist in this Year's Access Awards (2021)
Indigo’s revised National Equipment Database (NED) website has been nominated as a finalist in this year’s Access Awards under the categories of Accessibility Initiative of the Year and Not for Profit Website of the Year.
Long serving staff member of 20 years, Sacha Marchant, NED Project Lead, has also been nominated to be inducted into the Employee Hall of Fame for her dedication to the NED project.
The NED platform offers individuals and health care professionals a one stop shop to source, compare and purchase the widest range of helpful devices and equipment in Australia, from walking aids to personal care items.
Over the last 12 months the NED database was significantly redeveloped into an Amazon style specialist equipment platform. NED now offers more than 16,000 different products and information, which caters to an audience of more than 600,000 browsers from all around Australia each year. NED provides clear information to help individuals make informed choices about what Assistive Technology (AT) is right for them.
Indigo Chief Executive Officer, Seve Glew said he was honoured Indigo was selected as a finalist: “I’m thrilled that the National Equipment Database has made it to the finalist category for the Access Awards in two categories. We are up against 14 or 15 very worthy other finalists, so making it this far in the process is a significant achievement.
“The NED platform has been completely overhauled and had added functionality included for both suppliers and individuals. We aimed to make the NED experience as simple and user friendly as possible.
“Our NED Project Lead, Sacha Marchant, has long been a champion of the NED platform, having made many incremental improvements for customer experience over the years. She is a passionate advocate for our customers, so well done Sacha. We hope you win!”
The Access Awards are in their second year in 2021, and seek to recognise examples of best practice in accessibility. The judging panel comprises six professionals with lived experience of disability and specialists in digital access. The awards ceremony will be held on Friday 19 November at the WA Maritime Museum in Fremantle.More Information
