It's WA Seniors Week from 8-16 November 2020! Seniors Week celebrates seniors with events and activities across WA to acknowledge older people and to show our appreciation for their contribution to our communities.

Today, Indigo's Third- and Fourth-year Occupational Therapy (OT) students from Curtin and Edith Cowan universities showcase our most commonly requested Assistive Technology (AT) items through the Goods, Equipment and Assistive Technology (GEAT) service.

The GEAT service provides a range of basic assistive technology, devices, and equipment to maximise a person’s independence and safety, for persons 65 and over, or 50 years and over for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

(Charis- Curtin) Over toilet frame: 

The arm rest of the frame will help you stabilise yourself when getting on and off the toilet. The height of the frame can also be adjusted to suit your height. https://ilcaustralia.org.au/products/2138

Etac Fix Stabilising Board: 

The moveable clamp and support pegs are designed to help stabilise food, bowls, cans or jars when you are preparing for meals. The spikes are there to help stabilise food when cutting/peeling. https://ilcaustralia.org.au/products/488

Computer Keyguard:

The keyguard is placed on top of the keyboard to provide physical separation between each key. By isolating each key, this promotes accurate finger location and helps prevent the user from unintentionally pressing multiple keys. A helpful and height adjustable piece of equipment that can be placed inside a shower recess to best support individuals who may experience fatigue, lower limb pain or reduced balance. A shower chair helps to conserve energy and reduce pain and still comfortably shower.

Uccello kettle

A compact and lightweight piece of equipment that never needs to be lifted from its cradle, it is good for individuals who may have reduced hand strength and dexterity. Can be easily poured using the ergonomic handle to assist with grasping. https://ilcaustralia.org.au/products/19690

The HandyBar is a portable device which assists an individual transferring in and out of a vehicle. Calendar Clock

A Calendar clock is a device that displays the month, day of the week, date, and the time within the same unit.
