These workshops are d esigned to give you confidence\, practical strategies\, and resources to w ork with clients with AAC needs and their support teams. The 6-part series will involve face-to-face presentations with video examples\, practical a ctivities and take-away activities each week to consolidate learning.\n&nb sp\;\n \;\n\nContent Outline\n\n\n Week 1: Introduction to the what and why of AAC\n Week 2: Assessment and feature matching\n Week 3: AAC trials\, goal setting and implementation\n Week 4: Implementation\n Week 5: Client groups and specific interventions\n Week 6: Literacy and AAC\, funding and staying up to date.\n\n\nAfter completing the works hop series\, you will be able to:\n\n\n Explain the purpose of AAC\n Identify clients who may benefit from AAC interventions\n Assess and p rescribe AAC\n Set SMART and family-centered goals for AAC\n Demonst rate use of key intervention strategies including aided language stimulati on and the use of prompts and cues\n Access professional support networ k.\n\nTarget Audience\n\n Speech Pathologists new to working with clien ts with AAC needs\n Speech Pathology graduates\n Speech Pathology st udents with an interest in the disability sector.\n\n \;\nThis series is run over 6 weeks\, every Monday evening (except during 2-week break) fr om 5pm to 7pm.\n\n \;\nThe dates are: \;\n\n\n Mon 4/10\n Mo n 11/10\n Mon 18/10\n Mon 8/11\n Mon 15/11\n Mon 22/11\n\n\n&n bsp\;\nRegistration and ticket price covers attendance for the series of 6 workshops. \; \;\n\n \;\n \;\n*Social distancing protocol s in line with current government recommendations will be adhered to.
